His Texas twist horns coiled like river bends forged by time, unmatched in symmetry and raw presence. Wherever he walked, the ground didn’t shake, it bowed.

Context for rarity of longhorn skulls in the entire world that are over 90 inches.

Longhorn skulls over 100 inches in total width (measured tip to tip) are incredibly rare.

Based on historical records and breed data:
Of the millions of longhorns that have existed globally, only a tiny fraction-likely fewer than 0.01%—reach 100 inches tip-to-tip.

Most mature longhorns fall in the 70-80 inch range, with anything above 90 inches being considered exceptional and highly prized.

Skulls exceeding 100 inches are typically from specific bloodlines bred for extreme horn growth, often in Texas longhorn breeds.

This rarity makes 100+ inch longhorn skulls highly valuable and sought after by collectors.

Only a microscopic fraction of longhorn skulls ever reach 100 inches in total width (tip-to-tip). Here's a breakdown based on historical data and breed records:

Estimated total longhorns ever: Well over 10 million globally across history.

Skulls over 100 inches: Estimated fewer than 1,000 worldwide.

Percentage: < 0.01%

Context:
70–80 inches is the typical mature horn spread for most Texas longhorns.

90+ inches is already considered elite and extremely rare.

100+ inches puts a skull in record-breaking, collector-grade status, usually only achieved by specially bred bloodlines focused on horn genetics (e.g., Cowboy Tuff Chex, Fifty-Fifty BCB).

Why it matters:
Longhorn skulls over 100 inches aren't just decor—they're trophies of genetic excellence and fetch significant premiums.

The rarity makes them a centerpiece in high-end Western art collections, luxury lodges, and investment ranches.

If you own or sell a 100+ inch skull, you're dealing in one of the rarest biological artifacts in the cattle world.

If you have any questions about determining the authenticity of the skull, please send us a message. We are happy to assist you in avoiding scams, even if you choose to buy from another seller. We are one of the few sellers offering genuine longhorn skulls. It's important to note that all horns and skulls may have minor blemishes from their natural state when the animal was alive.

FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES AND A GUIDE TO DETERMINING AUTHENTIC LONGHORN SKULLS:

1. DAIRY COW SKULLS WITH OX HORNS WITH ROPES AND SCREWS: Some of the skulls listed here are actually dairy cow skulls fitted with ox horns, which are not original to the cow. These are cheap skulls from Mexico that cost $50 for a reason. If a “longhorn” skull requires screws or ropes for assembly or has a bump-like feature at the top, that’s a clear sign it’s not a real longhorn. In such cases, the head is likely a dairy cow’s head who was never born with horns. Don’t fall for this type of scam.

These are polled/fake longhorns and we unfortunately learned that in our first year of selling longhorns.

2. DAIRY COW SKULLS WITH MOLDED AND FAKE HORN CORES

These are dairy cow skulls fitted with molded longhorn cores, designed to deceive buyers into thinking they are genuine longhorns. The attached ox horns often break over time. You can usually spot these fakes because the skull's structure appears unnatural or strange. A real longhorn skull has natural horn cores and doesn’t require any bondo or artificial work like dairy cow skulls who was not born with horns.

3. WATER BUFFALO SKULLS WITH OX HORNS AND WATUSI HORNS

You can spot these fakes by comparing them to the shape of a water buffalo skull. Many of these skulls are sourced from Bali, where water buffalo heads are combined with ox horns or Watusi horns from Nigeria or Asia. The top of the head often resembles an upside-down letter "C," which is a clear giveaway since real longhorns do not have this shape. Additionally, some of these products are wrapped with rope to disguise their construction. You can also tell it’s a fake Texas longhorn by the face shape and features, which will look noticeably different and unnatural.

Be cautious when sellers describe their product as a “real steer bull skull” or “cow steer longhorn.” These terms are inaccurate and indicate a lack of knowledge on the seller's part and a lack of experience selling longhorn skulls.

Each type of longhorn is distinct:
* A steer is a castrated male longhorn, which allows him to grow the longest and largest horns.
* A bull is an intact male longhorn, whose horns are thicker, and his head is broader.
* A cow is a female longhorn, typically characterized by twisty, thinner horns.
* A heifer is a female longhorn who has not been exposed to male longhorns.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do the Horns Come Off and If So, How To I Re-Attach the Horns?

Yes, unless stated otherwise, all horns are shipped detached to reduce shipping costs.

To help identify which side of the head the horns belong to, we use identifying marks such as a colored sticker, or a small marking on the head or in packaging.

Re-attachment is then a matter of slipping the horn cap back onto the horn core, carefully and without force to avoid cracking or shipping. The base of the horns can be fragile, so just go slow.

Also, each horn has natural groves and can really only go back on one way, so it's hard to mess it up. Please refer to the pictures in the original listing for placement and shape.

    -

    Are These Longhorn Skulls Authentic?

Yes, all our longhorn skulls are 100% authentic Texas Longhorn cow skulls. We source them responsibly from ranches and ensure they meet our quality standards. No polled skulls. No replicas. Each listing has an image on how you can spot a fake.

    -

How Much is Shipping and Will You Ship International?

We offer FREE domestic shipping & fragile packing services to customers in the United States.

We offer calculated international shipping, but prices depend on destination, and other factors.

We work with a 3rd party shipping provider for steep discounts, so please know that actual shipping prices should be much less than what Etsy estimates. If there is a difference in price, you will be refunded.

What is Your Ethical Sourcing Policy?

We are committed to ethical practices. Our cow skulls are sourced from ranches where the animals have naturally passed away, or are a by-product of the beef industry, or come from sustainable sources, ensuring minimal impact on the environment.

Why Do the Skulls Have Different Prices & Why Are You More Expensive Than Other Shops on Etsy?

The prices of our longhorn skulls vary based on factors such as size, condition, and unique markings. We aim to offer a range of options to suit different preferences and budgets.

We pride ourselves in our ability to source some truly rare and remarkable skulls. We've sold skulls that are over 100" inches wide, and some are even from famous longhorn breeders, with genetic traits that make their horns truly unique, beautiful and durable, unlike our competitor shops.

The process from pasture to home decor is an arduous one with expensive supply & sourcing costs, months of production effort to ethically source, clean, and prepare these skulls into beautiful home decor items fit to be hung on your wall.

Can I Customize My Longhorn Skull Before I Order?

While we don't offer extensive customization, we can accommodate some requests. Contact us before placing your order, and we'll do our best to meet your customization needs, such as laser engraving, painting, carving, or decorating.

NOTE: There will be be an additional cost for custom orders.

Can I Hang My Longhorn Skull on the Wall, and How Do I Do It?

Yes, our longhorn skulls are all ready to be hung on the wall. Each skull comes with a sturdy galvanized wire attached to the back on the head for secure mounting. Simply use appropriate hardware (screws, nails, or wall anchors) for your wall type to hang the skull securely.

    -

What Forms of Payment Do You Accept or Offer A Payment Plan?

We accept major credit/debit cards, PayPal, and other payment methods available through Etsy's secure payment system.

Etsy now offers an installment payment system called Klarna, so you can get your skull ordered now and make monthly payments over time.

Read for more information on Klarna:
    https://etsy.me/3qxjvX7

Do You Offer Returns or Exchanges?

We want you to be satisfied with your purchase. If your cow skull arrives damaged or not as described, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order. We'll work with you to arrange a return or refund. We do not offer exchanges. Refunds are only offered in the case of item damage. We cannot accommodate orders where the customer has simply changed their mind.

NOTE: All items are shipped with insurance, and refunds due to damage in shipment must be processed by our shipping provider. Proof of damage will be required to submit a claim.

What is Tip to Tip vs Total Horn? I Don't Understand.

Tip to Tip (commonly shown as TTT), is standard measurement in the Longhorn industry and is simply the total distance across the horn spread (from tip to tip), measured in feet or inches.

So if a listing says 8-ft TTT (and yes, we do get them this big), that's the total span (width) of the horns and a measurement to consider when sizing a longhorn skull for your space.

Total Horn on the other hand (TH), is a measurement taken along the back of the horn curvature following the total curvature of the horn. The total horn is always the larger of the two measurements.

Some skulls may have a short TTT, but a very long TH if they are swooping forward for example.

This is just another unique trait of the magnificent Texas Longhorn!
